Donations

There are many types of donations that are needed. One thing to keep in mind as you look over this list is that we are a non-profit located in Minnesota. We are tax exempt and any type of donation to American Assistance Dogs is tax deductible. Our central office is in SE Minnesota in Rochester but our volunteers, clients, and dogs are located all over the state. Your donations are also passed on to our clients. Our goal is to provide them with all the essentials when our dog is first placed and then try and help out with extra's when we can. Most of our clients are living on Social Security Disability and it's difficult for them to provide extra things for the dogs or additional necessary equipment for themselves like a specialized leash or collar.

SUPPLIES:    Supplies are never ending and always appreciated. With the care, raising, and training of puppies/dogs we are always in need of some basic items: Kennels of all kinds and sizes, large breed puppy and adult food, raised feeders, stainless steel food bowls, leashes (4ft, 6ft, flexi, and hands free), collars (regular clip and Martingale), dog shampoo,  Kennel beds, brushes/combs of all kinds, ANY Toys, Heartworm preventative (all sizes of dogs/puppies), Frontline or Revolution Flea/Tick preventative (all sizes of dogs/puppies).

DOGS:    We are forever grateful to those breeders who have generously donated a puppy or two. It is with your donation that you have changed another person's life forever. Thank you! 

ITEMS FOR FUNDRAISING:  There are so many types of things we sell as a way to raise funds for our dogs. T-Shirts, dog houses, dog beds, unique frames, mugs, paintings, etc. Many of these items are great for a raffle and can raise quite a bit of money for American Assistance Dogs, Inc.

MONEY:    Like so many great organizations out there, we are no exception: Money pays the bills and pays for things that we need if they aren't donated - like food and vet care. We've tried to make the process of donating money easy by using PayPal. If you'd like to donate funds this way, please click on the Pay Pal button. PayPal lets us know that has been done and we will quickly send a receipt for your records. If you are contributing to a client's fundraising requirement, please be sure and put the client's name in the "Purpose" box if it's through PayPal or write their name on your personal check. We want to be sure and credit the client with your generous donation. All checks should be written to American Assistance Dogs.

SERVICES:    Many people prefer to donate their work time and we can certainly use that! Here are some examples of very generous donations: 

Veterinary clinics: shots, exams, eye exams, hip and elbow x-rays, spay/neutering, micro-chipping

Boarding facilities: for when all of our volunteers are unable to take a dog for another trainer.

Groomers: some of our dogs require professional grooming from time to time like Poodles. We train Poodles for those clients who have an allergy to dogs.

Basic and advanced obedience dog trainers: either providing the classes at a discount or free to our volunteers.

CGC exam testers: either providing the exam at a discount or free to our volunteers. 

Sewing: Our dogs coats need patches sewn on from time to time.

Printers: brochures, cards, letterhead, fundraising mailings, etc.
